Okay, I’ll admit it, I’m a total Disney freak. I love all things Disney, so my expectations for a Disney Cruise were sky-high… and guess what? It absolutely lived up to the hype. We’ve been on more than a dozen cruises with other lines, but our two trips with Disney Cruise Line blew the rest out of the water. Here are seven reasons why I think everyone should experience Disney magic on a Disney Cruise Ship.

The Easiest Boarding Process Ever
Do you know how boarding a cruise ship can feel like a marathon? Not with Disney. Thanks to their Online Check-In, we were on board in less than 15 minutes—yes, really! Disney has totally nailed this. It was smooth and fast, and it set the tone for an amazing trip filled with attentive service right from the start.

Dining That’s Both Fun and Familiar
Disney Cruise Ship’s rotational dining is brilliant. You get to try a variety of restaurants, but your waitstaff follows you each night, so they get to know your family and preferences. If you have late dining, the crew will even whisk your kids off to the Oceaneer Club so you can eat in peace. And let’s be honest, the nightly Mickey bars were the real MVPs.

Meet Your Favorite Characters
One of the absolute highlights is the character meet-and-greet moments. Mickey, Minnie, the Disney Princesses, and a bunch of other Disney favorites are on the ship, ready for hugs and selfies.
Pro tip: characters usually appear more than once on longer cruises, and the lines are shorter the second time around. My daughter saw the same princesses so often that they ended up greeting her by name!

Personalized Autographs = Next-Level Souvenirs
Each stateroom can drop off two items at Guest Services to be autographed by the characters. How cool is that? A lot of people bring pillowcases, but we used blank canvases from the craft store and included Sharpies and candy as a thank-you. Now those signed canvases hang in our kids’ rooms, and they smile every time they see them.

A Royal Tea for Your Little Princess
If you have a serious princess fan in your crew, don’t skip the Royal Court Royal Tea. It’s an extra cost and fills up fast, but it’s 100% worth it. My daughter got to spend real time with multiple princesses, collect keepsakes, and snag a group photo that felt straight out of a storybook. It was her favorite part of the cruise.

Pirate Night = Total Blast
Even if you don’t plan themed outfits for every day, pack something for Pirate Night. Almost everyone dresses up, and the vibe is electric. There’s an epic deck party on the high seas and even fireworks at sea, something most other cruise lines can’t offer. The kids were wide-eyed with excitement, and honestly, so were we.

So Much to Do, You’ll Never Be Bored
There’s a legit variety of activities every single day. From movies (we saw Maleficent the night it premiered!) to Broadway-style shows like Aladdin and Peter Pan, Disney really brings the magic. Don’t even get me started on the waterslides, deck parties, kids’ clubs, and dreamy island destinations like Castaway Cay and the new Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Oh, don’t forget to book a spa day at Senses Spa and Salon, which is a great place for some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Disney Cruises are a great alternative to theme parks.
